Je vais vous prêcher quelques choses

I had exchanges this week and I was with Sœur Kennington who went to Davis and she is so great. We found the whole time but we made it fun by saying okay we are talking to 100 people ready, go and we found some really really realllllllly cool people and I think we got in the high 80's or 90's so yeah we went wild. The other Sœurs in the Nogent apartment are so great. Sœur Carlson was McBride's MTC comp and also stayed in Nivelles for 6 weeks when she was 16 so we have ties. She's so funny so staying over on exchanges is so much fun, she's training Sœur Dorten who is literally the most outgoing person I've ever met.

I admire some of my members this week. The Alverez family is a recent convert family who were a self referral, you would think they've been members their whole lives. Frère Alverez's coworker has come to church twice and then we set up a Soirée for Wednesday night. Her whole family came and we ate a classic French meal, can't remember the name, and answered her Bible questions and talked about the Book of Mormon and got home at 22h30 ..it's okay. Then Sr. Domenech had a co-worker at church who she gave a Book of Mormon to a couple of months ago, she's read half. The Alverez's gave amazing talks on the Book of Mormon. She loved it and Sr. Domenech was introducing her to everyone and was so so so excited to have her there. Her friend said she felt like she progressed so much just being there one time. Why don't we invite our friends to church?

Okay highlight of my week: we stop a nice looking black woman (whenever you feel down stop an African and talk to them about Jesus) oh no she is crazy evangilist and hates paintings of Jesus and only wants to hear the parole and is telling us to preach Jesus not the Book of Mormon, just preach the bonne parole. Sœur Bookwalter turns red and gets soooo serious then says literally through her teeth while pointing her finger "Je vais vous prêcher quelques choses.." I missed the rest because I was holding back laughing IT WAS AMAZING 😂😂😂

So yeah this week was good. We had good rendezvous it was just off. I got fed by the Queen of Laos again. And translated a weird letter for her. Also, I was mistaken for a prostitute twice (I'm blaming it on mom for sending me pink boots lol) walking down the street I was looking down and then I looked up because someone was passing me, this guy looks at me and is like oh non merci j'ai une femme. I didn't even smile at him!! We counted it as one of our invites for the day because I unintentionally invited him 🙃

Sorry no pictures so here are more from the Louvre last week and also a good quote and also something I found on family tree that is so stinking adorable. I'm gonna hunt down my zone picture because they didn't post it on FB.

Une Semaine D'amour ♡♡

DONC I had a great week and a great Birthday so all is well in Zion. On my Birthday we had District Meeting and the elders brought me 3 ginormous Vanilla Coke bottles, lol. I guess elders are good for something. We also saw Manoucheca + Jeanne! We invited Jeanne to baptism but she be confused about the Priesthood. Oh yeah and she's read half of the Book of Mormon. And thanks to Manoucheca's children I have Oh My Father memorized in French.

On Thursday we had Zone Conference, my whole district had to give mini formations (because we killin it) so I gave one on Having the Courage and Faith to see miracles. Then we got SMARTPHONES. Imagine like twenty 20 yr olds sitting in a circle freaking out not knowing how to turn a phone on or work it hahaha it was priceless. Elder Leavitt is in my zone and he brought me a 2L coke for my b-day so that was vraiment gentil quoi. Also, I saw Raj for the last time, she gave her dying testimony and it was so weird. But she is the only one of my comps that will leave before me so that's nice. I just had a major feeling I was a bleu again WHOA.

After Zone Conference we had a lesson with Gwènaëlle and she prayed for the first time! We went over the Plan of Salvation and she asked great questions and it was awesome. Then we saw her again Saturday when we went to visit her Village. We got permission to go one time because it's...so far out of our sector. But it was amazing!! So so so old so old. And it smelled so gooood. The bus ride was so green it was a happy day

On Friday we met with Rodolphe and we discussed the plan of salvation and other irrational things as promised. Well guess what, he has met one of the 3 Nephites and has no idea. I'll tell the story when I get home or on Skype I guess just remind me. He kept saying things like God came from somewhere, he probably lived on an earth like us then became a God and there has to be something like that for us and I believe in aliens but more of people just like us living somewhere else and we sat there dumbfounded because how deep doctrine can a missionary go (?) Basically he has pieced our beliefs together by himself but doesn't believe that's what religion teaches.

After Rodolphe we went to meet Madame + Monsieur Hartmann. We found her by phone finding and she was like meet me on Friday at 14h in front of the bus stop, we will get to know each other then maybe you can meet my husband the next time. So we went and met her then her bus came and she asked us to come with her. We went to a maison de retraite in a ville just above Bussy where her husband has been sick for over 10 yrs. (they aren't that old). She explained that the missionaries used to go with her every Friday for 90 minutes to play a game with him, share a Gospel lesson then they share a scripture and choose a song to sing. He was the sweetest man, and they were the nicest couple and The Mamas and the Papas, Mama Cass singing Dream a little dream of me came on in the next room and I can't wait to go back because I loved being there with them and I wish we would have found them before!!! I feel most like a missionary in situations like that and I think I want to go into nursing.

Last night we went to visit our ami Olivia. She is from Congo but lived in France but then moved to England where she began her life then more recently she moved back to France. She is basically homeless. Because she doesn't have work experience here in nursing she can't get a job so an association of some sort has given her a place to live with like 6 other people. The apartment is empty. Anyway we went over and talked more about the Book of Mormon and the Plan of Salvation and she too asked great questions and understood it so well. At one minute she just paused with tears in her eyes. The spirit filled that little room. Then two of the people she lived with came barging in drunk so we talked to them for a minute. They're a catholic couple who will be living on the streets today because they couldn't get their crap together. So they were giving us random pictures of ghosts they've seen because they won't have a place to put them. I have the strangest souvenirs guys. It was pretty surreal talking to them, kind of sketch too haha.

Okay, so that was my week. Then we have exchanges this week and a Soirée familiale and I'm sure other great things. Love you guys!

Here is a scripture, because ... missionary :) Alma 26: 1+2. "Can ye tell?"

il neige quoi

Salut

This week it snowed - everyone cancelled rendezvous because snow is scary and busses don't run even though the road is clear.  And I finally got sick, I was so strong for so long :') But not like vomit sick so I didn't stay in, I just went out and got sicker parce qu'il neige quoi.

BUT we didn't have a bad week we just had another weird one haha.

Tuesday we saw Manoucheca + Fam. Roosevens is the golden investigator man, he has read like half of that children's Book of Mormon we gave to him the other week. We read with them the story of Samuel the Lamanite and asked what they got from it and he answered "God will tell you what you need to do so you don't have to worry."  We talked about baptism with them again and Manoucheca has changed her answer from in a couple years to being ready in 3-6 months so her heart is definitely softening.

On Thursday Rodolphe finally admitted he isn't atheist and can't wait to talk about the Plan of Salvation next time and other "irrational" things we can think of - end quote. Dad he thinks you're great. I don't know what I said about you in our rendezvous but every time he brings up how well rounded my dad is. He also is starting to realize Mormons aren't a cult of weirdos who do nothing but build fences around our communities. Also he is a communist - I don't know how you can be communist in France but he will like heaven quoi.

Speaking of Communists -  I will never see Sourivong again 😢 he is moving back to Laos this week surprise.. 2 months early. There isn't a church there. I'm going to miss my Buddhist Mormon guy. I drew him a nice picture of him by his Bungalow sipping coconut water and working on his form.

On Friday we went out to see somebody in the depths of Pontault-Combault. We went there from Torcy by bus and the roads weren't bad even though it was snowing pretty hard! We then took another bus to get out where we needed to be, after about 2 minutes we realized we needed to be going the opposite direction so we hopped off the next stop. the stop was literally in the middle of no where, I have no idea how we got so far away from Pontault in 2 minutes but we did and we were stuck because apparently that was the last bus that decided to function that day 😂 WE WERE THERE FOR TWO AND A HALF HOURS walking around in the snow trying to walk back oh man we looked pretty pathetic mais ça va quoi la vie missionaire quoi

Happy came to church again and fell asleep in sacrament meeting 😂 We were translating for her but in reality we were putting her to sleep she eventually ended up on my shoulder. But she got to meet Évêque Monga afterwards and talk to him about baptism. In his slightly broken English he told her that we love to baptize people twice, because while other Baptisms are good our Baptism is better because we gots the power. She was like ohhhh I finally understand!! In our lesson afterwards the Holy Ghost clicked for her, and we discussed the Word of Wisdom and she can't wait to wear white and she's just funny and I like her. We will be moving back her date to March because there is a ward temple trip the 24th and teaching her has been hard the last 2 weeks but she wants to do it before I leave, she said she would pray and pick a date and fill out a Baptismal calendar with us this week. On verra 🤞

This week is gonna be crazy. We are getting our new and improved portables on Thursday at zone conference and I'll see mama Raj again and David (elders ami) is getting baptized on Saturday and we might have gotten permission to go to Gwènaëlle's on Sunday afternoon - She lives in Province which is forever away not even close to our sector so that will be an adventure haha the DL said oui alors voilà. Bonne semaine ♡
